Changes to Safesport
Dear Massachusetts Hockey Volunteers,
Welcome to the 2019-20 Massachusetts Hockey Season.
As you have probably seen and read, the USOC - the governing body for USA Hockey - has implemented new standards and requirements for the protection of minors, as required under the federal Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and SafeSport Authorization Act of 2017.
As such, in order to prepare for the season, it will be necessary for all local program volunteers (not just coaches) to: (a) register with USA Hockey; (b) Complete SafeSport Training; and (c) be screened by both USA Hockey and Mass CORI.
The first step in the process is for all volunteers and coaches to complete their USA Hockey Registration.
USAH Registration: https://www.usahockeyregistration.com (If you are registering as a Volunteer, the registration has NO FEE. If you already registered as a coach/player/official, you DO NOT need to register again. Use the SAME USA Hockey Confirmation registration.)
SafeSport Training: http://bit.ly/2019USAHSafeSport. Once you have registered with USA Hockey please complete SafeSport. You will need your USA Hockey Registration Number.
Please note that no coaches or players 17U and older will be able to be added to USA Hockey roster until such time as they have completed their required SafeSport Training. You should provide proof of your training to your local program's SafeSport Coordinator.
Mass Hockey Background Screening: http://bit.ly/2019BScreening.  All volunteers and coaches are required to please complete the USA Hockey background screening and Massachusetts CORI.  Please note, in order to fully complete the Background Screening and CORI you will need to upload a copy of your driver’s license so you may want to do that in advance.
Please note that no coaches will be able to be added to a USA Hockey roster until such time as they have completed their required Background Screening.
Thank you for your time and contributions to Massachusetts Hockey.
